Hear more about Caples Creek On Thursday January 18 at the Veterans memorial building in Placerville. Michael Mamola will present angling data collected since 2019. He will provide a picture of the fish population in Caples Creek, describe pending work and project future actions we may participate in. Michael is the California DFW Heritage and Wild Trout biologist examining Caples Creek. This work results from our focus on Caples Creek and a goal of increasing angler satisfaction.

Caples Creek has been found to be a healthy habitat. Limited data and observations suggest some growth of fish population. We can develop a monitoring plan which would include participation by members in observation and hook and line angling. We will continue to evaluate the potential for planting more fish or hatching in stream.

The Veterans Memorial is located at 130 Placerville Drive in Placerville. Activity for the night starts with opening the doors at 5:45 PM. Bruce Butler will lead a fly tying group from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. He will present several simple patterns to begin tying. Bruce will provide materials and tools but feel free to bring your own. Our member meeting will start at 7:00 PM and feature Michael Mamola.

Come early for coffee and cookies and make new friends. Visit with your old friends and swap fish tales. We will hold our usual raffle of fishing items. Door prizes will also be offered.
