Deer Valley Meadow Restoration
Sean McGinness, Amador Ranger District Resource Officer, has asked for our Chapter’s help ?ith the Deer Valley 4WD Trail Meadow Restoration Project involving meadow and stream restoration in the Deer Valley area (past Hope Valley and downstream from Blue Lake). We will be joining a jeepers group to accomplish this work. There are 9 days of opportunity to help, you can choose which dates work for you.
The ENF has scheduled 3 blocks of 3 days each: September 8th-10th; Sept 15th- 17th; and Sept 22nd -24th to work on this site. Some of us may only work one day here and there, but that is OK. The first two sets of three days (Sept. 8-10 and 15-17) will involve spreading 6 inch rock by hand that are brought to the site using jeep trailers (already loaded by tractor). Also, there will be fallers falling trees and volunteers would be moving them by hand or with winches (for the more energetic types). For these dates, bring hand pruning saws and loppers, if you have them, to use for trimming branches of cut trees.
The last three days (Sept. 22-24) will involve planting willow cuttings. For these dates of cutting willows, bring loppers, pruners, clippers and small tree saws, if you have them.
